Get her in the mood

Work for it

"Not tonight, darling, I'm just not in the mood." At some point, we've all heard this most disappointing of sentences slip from the mouth of a partner. But the thing with moods, of course, is they're rather prone to change; and just as your squeeze can segue from doe-eyed angel to raging harridan at the mere mention of a patch of errant leg hair, she can also be coaxed from grumpy grouch to panting nympho if you know just how – and where – to apply the pressure. If she's not in the mood, don't be pushy – try these sensual tricks.

Softly, softly
"There are many subtle moves to get your partner in the mood," says Dr Pam Spurr, author of Sex Dreams and Symbols - Understanding Your Subconscious Desires. "When you're sitting holding her hand and chatting, or maybe cuddling up, slip your fingers up to the inner side of her wrist and gently stroke your middle three fingers along it." You should keep your stroking in one direction rather than back and forth. "This is incredibly sensual and will send tingles right through her," says Spurr.

Ear we go
Once you've got her interested, you'll want to move north. "As Isabelle Allende famously said, a woman's G spot is in her ears," says Susan Quilliam, author of The New Joy of Sex. "Lean in and nuzzle your nose gently up and down the area of skin on her neck, a few centimetres below and slightly back behind her earlobe," suggests Spurr. "This is guaranteed to send sensations down her breast and into her nipple on the side you do it."
There's much more you can do with her ears, too. "Women are particularly turned on by words," says Quilliam. "Terms of endearment can be a real turn on – particularly if said in a lowered voice, which triggers feelings of intimacy." Now you know why Barry White did so well with the ladies.

Back and belly rubs
The small of the back is a classic turn-on spot for men, but – here's a little known fact – it can also be so for women. "Try gently touching or firmly massaging the soft areas each side of the base of her spine," says Quilliam. Next, move your hands round to the front. "Slip your fingers to midway between her belly button and pubic bone and circle them gently around and around on this much-neglected erogenous zone, says Spurr. "These sensations will subtly stimulate her clitoral region lower down and turn her on."
A pound for the man who perfects the art of conducting all three techniques simultaneously.
